My name is Laura, and I am a late-20s-something living and working in the metro Washington, DC area. I love writing and all things spiritual exploration (self-improvement, the meaning of life, becoming our authentic selves, our unique purposes) and I am so happy you stopped by for a visit. My purpose in this blog is to explore, rather than instruct.
Why "bright as the sun?"
You will hear me talk about the Legion of Mary, a Catholic service organization whose members serve their churches and communities in 170 countries around the globe. I joined in 2014, serving as the president of my church's praesidium, and now serving as an auxiliary.
The phrase "bright as the sun" comes from the Catena, a specific part of the Legion of Mary prayers. The full phrase is:
"Who is she that comes forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in battle array?"
It is Mary who brought me back to the Church, and I will forever be grateful to her for all she has done in my life.
You can catch my thoughts here on the blog, as well as in my monthly column for the Catholic Stand. I have also contributed to Verily Magazine and appeared on Relevant Radio's Morning Air program.
