Happy Feast of St. Therese!

Laura DeMaria

My St. Therese socks. “Since we see the way, let’s run together.”

Happy Feast of St. Therese of Lisieux, also known as The Little Flower. She was a very holy young woman, and a powerful intercessor. “I will spend my time in Heaven doing good on earth,” she said. And so she does.

This pair of socks arrived this week from The Society of the Little Flower. It is by far the best fundraising tool I have ever seen and I am very excited to wear them today.

You may have also been praying these past 9 days the Pray More Novenas novena to St. Therese. I enjoy looking at people’s prayer intentions, and seeing those that are answered.

May you and I grow in trust in God through the intercession of St. Therese.

Another podcast appreciation post: "Crisis: Clergy Abuse in the Catholic Church"

Laura DeMaria

I have been listening to The Catholic Project’s new podcast, “Crisis: Clergy Abuse in the Catholic Church” and highly recommend. It deals with the history of the decades-long history of priest abuse in the Church, is built from tons of firsthand sources, and deals with victims compassionately. The whole endeavor is fair and enlightening, even if often heartbreaking to listen to.

Per their own description, the show is “A series about the sexual abuse crisis in the Catholic Church: its origins, characters, causes, and reforms. Host Karna Lozoya interviews bishops, survivors, reporters, lawyers, social workers, and many more, to help navigate a systemic problem that has plagued the modern church for at least 70 years.”

As host Karna Lozoya often says, the way to end the systemic abuse in the Church is to talk about it. The show is a frank and honest discussion which does not seek to disparage anyone, but to tell the story truthfully, as it is. It is a tough story, but one which must be told.

So - find it wherever you listen to your podcasts and get ready to learn, and pray.
