Another podcast appreciation post: "Crisis: Clergy Abuse in the Catholic Church"

Laura DeMaria

I have been listening to The Catholic Project’s new podcast, “Crisis: Clergy Abuse in the Catholic Church” and highly recommend. It deals with the history of the decades-long history of priest abuse in the Church, is built from tons of firsthand sources, and deals with victims compassionately. The whole endeavor is fair and enlightening, even if often heartbreaking to listen to.

Per their own description, the show is “A series about the sexual abuse crisis in the Catholic Church: its origins, characters, causes, and reforms. Host Karna Lozoya interviews bishops, survivors, reporters, lawyers, social workers, and many more, to help navigate a systemic problem that has plagued the modern church for at least 70 years.”

As host Karna Lozoya often says, the way to end the systemic abuse in the Church is to talk about it. The show is a frank and honest discussion which does not seek to disparage anyone, but to tell the story truthfully, as it is. It is a tough story, but one which must be told.

So - find it wherever you listen to your podcasts and get ready to learn, and pray.

Audio from my latest radio interview

Laura DeMaria

Guys, I’m just going to say, I think yesterday morning’s interview with John and Glen on Morning Air may have been my best yet across these several years. It was fun and we covered a lot of ground on how to integrate prayer in your life as a leader. And as I made the point in our conversation, “leader” does not equate to “head of a corporation” - it could mean even your role as head of your household, or book club leader, or walking group coordinator, or all of the places in our lives where we are asked to lead. You can’t go wrong with prayer as a habit and lifestyle that will draw you to self-awareness and humility in leading others.

You can listen to the interview in the player here. You can start right at the beginning at 00:00 and pray the morning offering that John says, or fast forward to 01:23, where my part begins.

Enjoy!
